What this checker can identify
- Root commands such as give, summon, effect, teleport, execute and fill
- Target selectors, coordinates, item or entity IDs
- Unclosed quotation marks and unmatched brackets
- Version-sensitive NBT or component data
This is a structural checker, not a full Minecraft interpreter. A command can be structurally valid but unsupported in the selected edition or version.
How to read a command
Paste a command and the explainer splits it into parts: the command name, the target selector, coordinates, and any item or entity data. Each part is described so you can see which piece does what.
This is useful for long commands copied from videos or forums. For example, in /execute as @a at @s run tp @s ~ ~1 ~ the explainer shows that as @a changes who runs the command and at @s changes where it runs.
If the command does not work
- Remove the chat prefix or extra spaces at the start if the command is not recognised.
- If a part is marked as unknown, check whether it belongs to a different edition or version.
- Use the error doctor when Minecraft shows a red error message.
Selector cheat sheet
| Selector | Selects |
|---|---|
@p | The nearest player |
@a | All players |
@r | A random player |
@e | All entities, including mobs, items and armor stands |
@s | Whoever is running the command (a command block selects nothing) |
@n | The nearest entity (Java 1.21 and later) |
Coordinates at a glance
Plain numbers such as 0 64 0 are world coordinates. ~ means "relative to where the command runs" along the world axes, and ^ means "relative to where the runner is looking" (left, up, forward). The two kinds cannot be mixed in one position.
